A mystic’s letter to God

William 2

Dear Lord,

In Your kingdom I expect

there are no emails to answer

no texts to send

no calls to make

no Facebook pages to post.

So how do you get anything done?

O, that’s right,

Your ways are not our ways.

May I release the compulsion

to get it all done now,

and eat a meal in gratitude,

sit beside your children with an open heart,

share my own dreams and visions,

be so blessed as to know You

as my True Home now.

May we all settle down into the country

of gratefulness

right this minute,

and remember

moments when You touched us

with Your own tiny hands:

love-making of the first degree.

May we awaken to how You have come near

cherish those moments again

feel our own longing for more closeness

and bow down in worship,

even now.

May we know You.
